unfinished. Oil on canvas.
also unfinished. Oil on a bigger canvas.
Stencil. Inspired by depression, radiohead, and carnival ducks that get shot out of the water.
I don't really like those other two paintings. They're both works in progress but I just feel like... a regular young contemporary artist. There seems to be this theme among artists my age of just wild creatures and cartoony presentation. I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know. I just don't really like either of them and I don't generally like most young contemporary 2d art and that's what this looks like. I'm in a rut.
I think I want to start working with live models, or with still lifes, but not flowers and shit. I suck am really good at surrealism straight from my head, but to apply realism to it without a model just doesn't work for me. So when I think of things to paint I'm going to have to start maybe constructing models first. This is why I've been getting really excited about sculpture lately (something I previously shunned as a hardcore addict of 2d). We'll see what becomes of all of it...
