Sonic Vibrations: clouddead
I got into a bit of an argument today with a friend of mine. He tends to spew a lot of gay jokes and calls me a dyke a lot, etc etc etc.

Sometimes I laugh, other times it just goes too far. I brought this to his attention today in the car and he proceeded to tell me that if people didn't take it so serriously then it wouldn't be such a big deal. That he was only mocking people who really think like.

I proceeded to make the point that belittling someones lifestyle, race, religion, etc. is just as horrid as murdering someone and that in no world should it ever be ok, and that his continuing "mockery" of people who really think like that is starting to make me wonder what his real feelings are.

We got into a bitter argument about it and in fact are not speaking at the moment. Happy Valentine's Day to me.

Anyways, I was curious what everyone's thoughts were on "joking around" with gay, racial and religious slurs, and what not?

The reason I am posting this in the art community is because art has always been a medium of self expression and throughout history art has been that one way that someone could fully express themselves and prevail with their message. I just thought it would be interesting to see what fellow artist's thoughts were on it.
